Wednesday’s Tip: Money in the Swinbank! Naburn the bet at Catterick

Tipster Lewis Jones was in profit again yesterday as Very First Blade ran a solid race to finish second at Southwell at 8/1. There are five meetings for punters to attack today and Lewis has narrowed down his search to the action on the flat at Catterick, where he is following a 4/1 shot…

Solid showing yesterday as our 8/1 shot at Southwell only found the well backed favourite too good on the Fibresand. It’s nice to see my form is still strong after a tasty tipping run at Aintree. Hopefully it continues well into the summer.

Today’s tipping focus is on Catterick, but it’s well worth keeping an eye on proceedings at Nottingham, where the Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes (Listed event) takes centre stage and is always a good event that produces a classy stayer to keep an eye on for the season.

Hardened stayers like High Jynx and Biographer take on some very unexposed young sorts in the form of Flying Officer and Mighty Yar. Although I couldn’t find an angle into the race, it will be well worth watching.

My money is going down on the chances of the Alan Swinbank-trained Naburn in the racinguk.com/anywhere 3 Devices 1 Price Handicap (3:20 Catterick).

Naburn (4/1) with BetVictor at Catterick 3.20 (1pt Win)

The selection has some tasty course and distance form in the book that is simply too strong to ignore, especially with the ground drying by the minute. He hacked up here by nearly four lengths from the front in September off a mark just 3lbs lower than what he races off today.

Although Swinbank’s rangy type failed to fire on his subsequent two starts of last season, valid excuses can be made for those poor showings where the ground was on the testing side.

Swinbank always seems to target this race with one of his more forward types having won it in 2005 and 2008, and Naburn looks primed for a big run today having blown away some cobwebs when third at Southwell last month.

The yard is in decent form too, which is a bonus. They had a good winner in a maiden at Southwell yesterday and have had two other winners in the last 14 days. This race lacks depth, and it will be very surprising if the selection doesn’t run a big race from the front under Ben Curtis. Get on the 4/1 with a one point win stake.
