Wednesday’s Racing Tip: 6/5 Golan can go all the Way

cheltenham-festival-bookmakers

Winners have been few and far between for Lewis Jones over the last few weeks but he’s still turning a profit for the column in the long run and he’s found a short price favourite to lump on with confidence today at Musselburgh…..

Golan Way is a very classy chaser on his day and a switch down a level to Hunter Chases at Musselburgh shouldn’t be a problem for this talented jumper. He will take all the beating in the CGA Hunters´ Chase at 4:45.

Rated 142 over fences, the selection posted some very impressive runs in his chasing career, none more so when being deemed good enough to run in the King George VI Chase behind Kauto Star in 2011. One personal fond memory of the horse was when he delivered the goods at 12/1 with a sublime front running jumping performance at Sandown when he beat the likes of Quinz, Benbane Head and Cheltenham Festival winner Boston Angel in the Listed Future Stars Chase in 2011.

He was last seen in 2012 finishing third in a 3m5½f handicap chase off a mark of 147 and has since been transferred to the very strong Tim Vaughan yard after leaving Sheena West, who did a fabulous job with the horse.

Vaughan has a very good record with hunter chasers and knows how rekindle a spark which may have been lost in their older years. Qualviro, who won his on his debut at 5/1 for the yard two weeks ago at Market Rasen, is a fine example of how Vaughan can get a horse ready for the big day.

The veteran not only jumped supremely well but came home in splendid isolation that day and the same is expected of Golan Way today.

The 10-year-old has also got his perfect conditions today as the rain has stayed away from Edinburgh long enough to keep the going as good for today’s meeting.

The 6/5 has been backed this morning but that hasn’t put us off going in feet first, it’s maximum stakes time. Five points win.

Good luck, comrades.
