Tuesday’s Racing Tip: Shama looks cherry ripe for a huge Oaks run at 25/1

After looking at the races on offer today Lewis Jones has decided to swerve the rather lacklustre punting action and concentrate on having a gander at the ante-post market for the Imvestec Oaks at Epsom. He’s come out the other side with a selection too. Lump on….
At this precise moment the Oaks betting has a rather one-sided look to it with the John Gosden-trained Taghrooda dominating the market after a couple of impressive victories at Newmarket.
Although the market had spoken right in her favour for this contest, I’m yet to be fully convinced by her as an Oaks winner. She took a bit of time to master the runner-up in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket and I’m not sure she has the instant turn of foot needed around Epsom in the Oaks. I’m out.
The one I like at the prices is the Sir Micheal Stoute-handled Shama, who is owned by The Queen. Her Majesty went close to winning a Classic a couple of years back with Carlton House and she is a breeder/owner that deserves big respect when it comes to finding a top-class animal.
She may just have one on her hands here with the selection, who can be backed at 25/1 with Bet Victor.
Shama was always going to improve from two-to-three on breeding and judging by her reappearance, she’s done just that.
Although the form of her maiden win at Lingfield on the Polytrack leaves a lot to be desired for from a form point of view, it was hard to knock the way she quickened clear in the final stages. Paddock reports have informed me that she looked a million dollars in the paddock and the noises out of Stoute’s yard have also been very promising.
Stoute is renowned for using the Musidora Stakes at York (run on Wednesday) as a key trail with one of his best-working fillies and he won the very race last season with Liber Nauticus. Shama is their entrant this year and with Ryan Moore in the plate, a big run is expected.
In all honesty, there are three or four fillies that have the same unexposed profile but the price about the selection is just too juicy too ignore from an each-way perspective.
