Tuesday’s Racing Tip: 9/1 All Right Now is each-way gold at Southwell

This time next week we’ll all be waking up with a grin the size of AP McCoy’s testicles. The day we’ve all been waiting for will finally be here. We do have seven more sleeps to negotiate before the Festival kicks-off though and Lewis Jones is hoping a 9/1 shot at Southwell today can bulk up his ammo with the four-day extravaganza on the horizon….

You can almost smell it, comrades. The Cheltenham Festival is almost here. No point beating around the bush, I’m like a kid around Christmas at the moment and my mood has been further enhanced by the fact that I think I have found an absolutely stonking each-way bet from Southwell this afternoon.

This is the biggest bet I’ve ever recommended for this column. Get on with a maximum five point each-way stakes.

All Right Now, who runs in the Download The Ladbrokes App Handicap, is a horse that is so well handicapped at Southwell and everything looks right for him today to end his poor run of form.

Time and time again we see horses that have previous winning form at Southwell drop down the weights and then rediscover their form back on the Fibresand.

At his peak, All Right Now was a very consistent performer off a mark of 76, winning a very competitive race in fine style in 2011 over course and distance when rated 70. A loss of form followed, which saw his mark somehow drop to 46 and he has picked up a couple of races over the last 18 months off these kinds of marks but consistency has a been an issue.

His mark has always been higher on the all-weather as his record at Southwell is very impressive, winning three from 10 runs and being placed on two other occasions. But after two pretty average runs on the surface, he has now been dropped to a career-low mark (at Southwell) of 51.

Trainer Tony Newcombe obviously thinks he’s up to winning off that mark as none other than top-jock Graham Lee has been booked for the ride and he’s only travelled to Southwell for two rides, which suggests he must fancy All Right Now’s chances.

Put simply, the early morning price of 9/1 is far too big from an each-way perspective. It’s bound to be backed in so get on whilst you can.

Good luck, comrades.
