Tuesday’s Racing Tip: 11/8 Benefit Cut to bring joy at Market Rasen

Lewis Jones has noted a significant jockey booking at Market Rasen today and is advising punters to follow him feet-first with maximum stakes on this 11/8 chance…..

We’re huge admirers of the skill shown in the saddle by Sam Twiston-Davies and the heir to AP McCoy’s throne should be followed with confidence for his only ride of the day at Market Rasen

He travels to the track in the knowledge that everything looks spot on for the potentially classy Benefit Cut to go very close in the Ladies Day Is Saturday 19th July Novices´ Limited Handicap Chase.

The former winner over hurdles took to chasing like a duck to water under Twiston-Davies at Ascot on his debut over the larger obstacles.

Sent out very aggressively from the front, the eight-year-old, who has always struck as a potential progressive sort when switched to fences, jumped with real aplomb and could be described as a bit unlucky not to have opened his account last time out.

Ballinvarrig landed the race but Benefit Cut was surely sailing to victory until buckling on landing two from home. That mistake cost him plenty of momentum as the eventual winner galloped past him on the run to the line. The selection went down fighting though and was only beaten less than two lengths in a very good race for the grade.

The handicapper has for once been pretty lenient in his work by raising him just 2lbs in the weights and if putting in the same round of jumping as he did at Ascot, Twiston-Davies should guide the favourite home in front.

Today’s contest lacks the depth of the Ascot race and in theory only Mystifyable has the potential to cause the selection some problems. He’s making his handicap chasing debut today after three good runs over hurdles but he’ll need to improve in order to test the credentials of Benefit Cut.

Twiston-Davies is a cool cookie on these types of horses over fences and punters are advised to get on with five point win stakes on the 11/8 this morning.
