Tom Scudamore: “I’m very confident in Remastered ahead of the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase”

Coral ambassador Tom Scudamore gives us the lowdown on his weekend rides

It is a busy weekend of racing action and Coral ambassador Tom Scudamore gives us the lowdown on his rides at Haydock and Lingfield as well as an exclusive view on the big clash at Ascot between Shishkin and Energumene in the Clarence House Chase.

Haydock

2.35 -Peter Marsh Handicap Chase – Remastered

Remastered has been threatening to win one of these races for a while now and he just needs to put it all together at the same time to get his head in front. Hopefully this Saturday can be the day he does after a third and a second this season already.

We have got a lovely weight of 10-7 with the top weight Royal Pagaille staying in the race and running off 11-10. This is a very competitive handicap chase with a number of talented horses but I am very confident in Remastered and wouldn’t swap him for any of the others.

Lingfield

1.20 – Winter Million Novices’ Hurdle – Crossing Lines

Crossing Lines had a long break after winning his point-to-point and he ran well at the start of this month.

He loved the ground last time and out and it should be similar this time around, which means I am confident that he can improve from that run. I think he will run a really nice race on Sunday.

3.00 – Fleur De Lys Chase – Lieutenant Rocco

Lieutenant Rocco has some very good novice chase form from last season and that puts him right in the mix here if running to the same level.

On the handicap ratings he does have a little bit to find but I have schooled him recently and he looks ready for his first run this season. He will come on a little bit for this run but he is a very exciting young horse and I’m looking forward to riding him.

Tom’s Clarence House Chase views at Ascot

I think Shishkin will win the Clarence House Chase at Ascot on Saturday. You have to respect Willie Mullins’ horse, Energumene, but I think Shishkin is just a freak.

Every time you watch him, you are so impressed. It is a bit like how Altior was, he won’t do anything flashy and then all of a sudden he starts running away with it.

I think Ascot will really suit him and the quicker they go the better for him. Nico just needs to be in touch at Swinley Bottom. That is the danger zone, if he races a little lazily down the hill he could get left behind, but that would be his only chink in his armoury and I think he will win and do so impressively.
