Thursday’s Racing Tip: Module to show his class in Peterborough Chase

Tipster Lewis Jones found a 4/1 winner at Leicester yesterday for his only tip of the day and has his eyes on the Grade Two Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon today, where he is recommending a 3pt win bet…

Everything looks absolutely spot on for Module to run a huge race in the Grade Two Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon this afternoon. There is a feeling we haven’t seen the true capabilities of Tom George’s animal yet after a series of luckless performances around the country, but this looks to be the day where he finally gets his head in front in a big race.

He ran a belter on his seasonal reappearance in a very hot edition of the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter. In many people’s eyes, including this writer’s, he was the horse to emerge from the race with the most credit and that is saying something considering subsequent Betfair Chase and now King George favourite Cue Card was back in third.

Only finding Somersby too good, Module paid the price for slipping on the turf at the third fence before misjudging the last, which lost him all momentum as he tried to chase down the winner.

Somersby only won by a rapidly diminishing head and another 30 yards would have seen Module, arguably, run out a two or three length winner. If that was the case then he would be a big favourite for this chase today, yet, 100/30 is the price available this morning.

In truth, we were hoping for a bigger price but the horse was the subject of Pricewise and has been smashed off the boards from an early 9/2.

Looking further back through Module’s form and it only provides more incentive to put full confidence in his chances today. At Cheltenham in March, he looked ill at ease and very inexperienced, and actually ran a very impressive race to finish fourth behind Beneficent and the improving Dynaste.

That is always a sign of a very good horse in the making, when things go wrong yet they still come out of the race with credit. He looks a real trier and today could be the day where everything clicks. Of his opposition, all of his rivals look pretty exposed and have questions to answer.

We’re not big fans of Champion Court, Riverside Theatre is going backward and Captain Chris has to give Module 8lbs on ground which won’t suit him. Back the selection with a 3pt win.
