Thursday’s Racing Tip: 3/1 Mosspark looks smart at Huntingdon

That ‘ruddy AP McCoy. What a numpty.

How dare he continue to produce pure excellence the saddle. His absolute stonking effort aboard Holywell yesterday denied our tip Victor Hewgo what seemed at one stage a very likely win at 11/4.

That race highlighted just how important jockeys are to a horse’s chances. If McCoy was riding Victor Hewgo instead of James Reveley, who is a talent himself, then we would be sitting here celebrating a big maximum stakes return.

Another jockey riding out of skin this season is Aidan Coleman. He has reaped the benefits of a firing Venetia Williams stable and is on course to posting his most succesfull winners tally of his career.

Coleman has shown his capabilities not only for Williams though as his record when teaming up with Emma Lavelle is actually more prolific. Coleman has ridden 11 winners from 44 rides for Lavelle for a profit of £23.49 to a £1 stake.

We are latching onto that pairing for today’s best bet as Mosspark goes in Huntingdon’s Listed 2m4½f novice hurdle at 3.40 and with Coleman on board, he simply has to be backed.

The talented youngster put up a high class performance on debut behind the rapidly progressing Annacotty in a point to point in Ireland and then has continued to improve for Lavelle.

Holding an entry for the Supreme Novices Hurdle, Lavelle’s charge has won both his starts as a novice hurdler, first at Exeter and then at Leicester, where he flew clear after the last despite making a very bad error. He seems to have plenty under the bonnet which is a very good sign for a potential top class animal.

It’s his toughest test today, having to take on Carraig Mor from the Alan King yard. However, that rival looked a bit of a slow boat when getting beat at 1/8 at Ascot last time out and although is highly regarded may be a tad overrated.

The selection is full of potential himself and has been underestimated by the markets, being widely available at 3/1 this morning with most firms. Get on with a two point win stake.
