The Oaks Tips : Lewis brings you his Friday selections

The summer has officially arrived. Yes, it’s time for some epic Epsom action, starting with the Oaks on Friday.

In what looks a very high-class renewal, we’re siding with Lady Of Dubai to bring home the bacon.

The Luca Cumani-trained filly announced herself as a live contender for Classic glory when posting a commanding success in the Height Of Fashion Stakes on her seasonal reappearance at Goodwood – a race that 2010 Oaks winner Snow Fairy landed on her way to Oaks glory

The manner of her three-and-a-quarter-length victory at Goodwood catapulted her price in for the Oaks from 33/1 to 12/1 but despite the plunge, that price still looks a touch of value for a filly that should relish the track at Epsom.

Paddy Power have been in touch to tell us they are enhancing the price of Legatissimo from 3/1 to 10/1 plus they are boosting Crystal Zvevda from 7/2 to 10/1!

Pick up your 10/1 here:

The fact that Ryan Moore has chosen to ride 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo has to merit huge attention.

Along with Legatissimo, Newbury scorer Crystal Zvezda, Chester Oaks winner Diamondsandrubies and Musidora Stakes runner-up Together Forever all had Moore on board for their pre-Oaks race, which suggests that he has a clear idea about which of the fillies carries the best chance heading to Epsom.

Legatissimo was very impressive when picking up Lucida in the final strides at Newmarket and the step up in trip looks to be firmly in her favour considering her strong staying power. The one thing putting me off taking a short price about her chances in what is a very hot race is actually her ability to improve for the step up in trip.

It’s not as easy as it seems to win over a mile and then over 12 furlongs at Group One level and not many fillies – just two in the last 25 years – have achieved the feat.

She reminds me a bit of 2011 1000 Guineas winner Blue Bunting.

The Godolphin-trained filly showed tremendous staying power to win the Newmarket classic but could never land a blow in the Oaks, finishing fourth. Legatissimo could be a superstar but at 11/4 I’ll happily let her win and take a chance on the 12/1 about Lady Of Dubai with each-way stakes firmly in mind.

As always it’s a very competitive card on the Friday at Epsom, but I have my eye on two horses that hopefully will bring home a decent return.

I will be stunned if ODELIZ does not go very close in the PRINCESS ELIZABETH STAKES (2:00). The selection has to be one of the most consistent fillies in training yet she only has a Listed win in France on her CV at the top level. In what looks a below average renewal, she can build on an eye catching return to action at York to get her head in front at a course that should suit her strong-travelling style.

The booking of Moore also catches the eye on CUSTOM CUT in the INVESTEC MILE (3:45), who should be well capable of seeing off both market leaders Arod and Shifting Power.

He does have to carry a penalty but successfully did that when beating Shifting Power at Sandown earlier this year and that form should be franked as Moore should squeeze out further improvement in the tough front runner.

Lady Of Dubai 12/1 (4:30 Epsom)
Custom Cut 4/1 (3:10 Epsom)
Odeliz 11/4 (2:00 Epsom)
