Tipster Lewis Jones has been waiting for this day for months: the hurdling debut of the exciting Nicky Henderson youngster West Wizard. It’s safe to say he’s got big hopes for the Dai Walters-owned class-act and is backing him ante-post for Cheltenham…
Excitement is high within these parts, comrades. The day has finally come when our big fancy for the Supreme Novices Hurdle makes his much anticipated debut over hurdles. WEST WIZARD goes in the Openwork Foundation British Stallion Studs EBF “National Hunt” Novices´ Hurdle (Kempton 12:30) and we’re all a bit excited about seeing beast being unleashed onto the scene.
Although the cat is very much out of the bag in terms of West Wizard’s potential, punters should note that trainer Nicky Henderson tends to run one of his talented young hurdlers in this race.
He’s won it with the likes of the late-great Darlan and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth is the last three years.
Hopes are high within his camp of a very fruitful career over the sticks with the Supreme Novices Hurdle challenger, who really caught the eye both in the paddock and on the racecourse when winning at Kempton last season.
He pummelled his rivals that day by six lengths under a motionless Barry Geraghty, who has been raving about what he has seen the exciting youngster produce on the gallops in recent weeks.
Even at this early stage of the season, the form of his Kempton bumper win last season is looking above average for a contest of that nature with the runner-up, The Pirate’s Queen, winning at Taunton after finishing fifth in the Aintree bumper and the third, The Skyfarmer, winning twice, including once over hurdles.
If taking to hurdles, which is pretty likely considering who is training him, the selection will take all the beating taking on a bunch of rivals who probably don’t harbour claims of Cheltenham Festival glory in March. However at 1/7 (BET365), he’s hardly a betting prospect today.
Using a points to profit system just to record our winning margins we are advising a 2pt win on this selection in the ante post markets and hopefully come March, we’ll see a big return. Watch him today, go collect at the Cheltenham Festival.
Good luck if following, comrades.
