Sunday’s Racing Tips: Miss France to strike for master Fabre in 1000 Guineas

Tipster Lewis Jones is at the Rowley Mile today for the 1000 Guineas and has three bets to ponder on a tasty card at Newmarket…

A day to forget yesterday. Let’s not dwell. We move on.

The 1000 Guineas is one of the highlights of the flat season and this year’s renewal can be snapped up by Miss France, trained by Andre Fabre, who is an absolute genius at getting a horse ready for a Classic.

The fantastically fast filly showed her credentials for this event when winning the Oh So Sharp Stakes in authoritative fashion. The winning distance may only read half a length by the fashion in which she quickened clear under a very easy ride was very impressive and she has been on my radar for this race ever since. Her seasonal return was a shade disappointing, finishing sixth in the Prix Imprudence, but those French races can never be trusted from a form perspective and Fabre always maintained that she wouldn’t be at her best for that contest.

This year’s renewal has a rather open look to it but lacks a superstar. Miss France has that sexy profile that could come to the boil here. If she runs to the form of her Oh So Sharp win at the track, she’ll go very close. Get on with two points win stakes.

There’s plenty of betting opportunities today at Newmarket and one of the better value bets looks to be with the dependable Aspan Sam in the Havana Gold At Tweenhills Handicap (3:10). He reminds me greatly of last year’s winner Hamza as he is very quick and hard to pass when getting on the speed. He won three of his last four starts and has a fantastic attitude for front running tracks like Newmarket. Ryan Moore has be booked and at 14/1 it’s hard to see him being out of the frame. Get on with two points each-way stakes.

Another tasty wager lies with the chances of Snow Trouble in the Qatar Racing Handicap (Bobis Race) at 5:35. The three-year-old is highly regarded by his stable and has a tenacious attitude, which makes him a strong fancy in a race that lacks a bit of strength in depth. Get on the 7/2 with two point win stakes.
