Sunday’s Racing Tip: Good Value to be had at Kempton

Lewis Jones is looking forward to watching the mighty Treve return at Longchamp today but his recommended bet comes from Kempton, where he’s following a jockey at the top of his game….

James Doyle is a jockey that must be dreaming of reaching unbelievable highs this season. The new retained rider for Prince Khalid Abdullah rides the 2000 Guineas favourite Kingman next Saturday and has an array of high-class horses that could potentially win him in some very big prizes this season.

Any question marks regarding his ability in the saddle would have been quashed on Friday at Sandown as Doyle put on a masterclass of race riding when sending Noble Mission, a renowned troublesome customer, out from the front to make all comfortably in the Gordon Richard Stakes.

Doyle is riding with great confidence and he should be backed aboard the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Good Value today at Kempton in the BetBright Mobile Classified Stakes.

The horse looks to have been laid out for a race of this kind by his trainer after three very moderate runs in maiden company, where he never was competitive but clearly had ability.

The unexposed three-year-old, who has been well punted for today’s race (4/1 into 5/2), was last seen finishing down the field in an above average maiden at Windsor but was a clear eye catcher out the back in the famous pink and green silks.

Weak in the market, Doyle never had the horse in contention and he stayed on past beaten horses in the closing stages. It stunk of a prep-run for an event like today, which is huge drop in class. Get on.

Looking further afield and there is plenty to look forward to as action from Punchestown and Newmarket dominate the coverage over the next seven days.
Five days of top-class punting action from Punchestown starts on Tuesday with impressive Cheltenham Festival winners Vautour and Faugheen both entered up for the Herald Champion Novice Chase.

Only one will run but it will be a real treat to see them in action again. The Punchestown Gold Cup is run on Wednesday, the World Hurdle on Thursday and the Champion Hurdle on Friday.

If that doesn’t quite float your boat, then the Guineas action on Saturday and Sunday should be right up your street. What a week ahead. Let’s hope it’s a winning one, starting today with Good Value.

Get on with two points win stakes.
