Saturday Racing Tips: Have a play on this Lucky 15

Desperate times call for desperate measures, comrades.

The losing run has to end today. In a bid to blast my out of the loss column, I’ve decided to plunge for an extravagant looking each way Lucky 15, which consists of four each way selections for a 0.5 stake, so equating to 15 points. Hopefully two or three winners can blast us back into the profit zone. I’m feeling quietly confident about this today.

With the dead eight set to go in the Betfred “Goals Galore” Victor Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle, the smart play looks to be getting on the chances of Handiwork, with AP McCoy in the saddle, against the well backed favourite. Steve Golling’s charge has strong form in the book, and unlike a few of these, will relish underfoot conditions if in the same mood as he was at Ascot last time out. At 9/2 he’s worth throwing in the multiple.

Another horse that has a great chance of bringing an each way return in a eight runner race is Seeyouatmidnight, who takes his chance in the Betfred Mobile Hurdle (Registered as The Rendlesham Hurdle). This horse has slipped under the radar in his previous two wins but his performance last time out in the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle trial was sublime and it’s hard to ignore his chances today.

Celestial Halo is the one to beat but he doesn’t strike me as a horse to fully trust at odds-on especially against a horse with an unexposed nature like Seeyouatmidnight. Take the 7/1.

Highland Lodge, who can be snapped up at 7/2, has to go very close in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Chase (Limited Handicap) (Listed Race) at Haydock where again eight run. This horse has the scope to improve past his current mark of 139 and ran a better race than his pulled up tag suggested in the Scottish National.

The final selection is Cloudy Too in the Grade One Betfair Ascot Chase. Sue Smith’s chaser is 4-4 from when racing at this trip on soft ground. Although Captain Chris looks a very strong favourite, his jumping can go AWOL at times and the selection is the one in the field to take advantage following his easy win at Wetherby.
