After a very successful tipping effort at Royal Ascot, Lewis Jones has been snapped up to provide us with regular tips in the horse racing world.
This will not be a daily piece, so don’t expect him to be picking a tip in every race at every meeting like some tipping columns.
This is very much a column that only ever picks out the best opportunities to make money with only one or two pieces being penned per week. Lewis believes if you stick to his advised points staking ratio, long-term you will turn a healthy profit.
Let’s see what he’s got for us today….
I’m in confident spirits after Royal Ascot.
Plenty went right, which is always nice to know and shows that all the time and effort spent trawling through form and race videos is worth the hassle. I hope a few of you managed to latch onto some decent priced winners.
There are two horses on my radar today. Something for everyone, really, with a strong 7/2 win chance and a juicy 33/1 poke for the long shot merchants out there.
First up is 7/2 poke LAIDBACK ROMEO in the DOWNLOAD THE BETDAQ+ APP HANDICAP (7:35 Windsor).
Clive Cox’s charge looks a horse on a very workable judging by his seasonal debut at Ascot, where he finished a staying on third behind Cilento.
He was caught on the wrong side of the track that day, away from the where the action unfolded but still kept on steadily down the wide outside only to be beaten four lengths.
The form of that race looks one very much to keep onside with the fourth Suffused running subsequent Royal Ascot winner Space Age to within a nose at Newmarket next time out.
The selection did admittedly run very averagely on his next outing behind Resonant at Goodwood but chased a very strong pace that day and unsurprisingly faded down the field after doing so.
Ridden with more patient tactics, he looks a good bet to topple and the four-time seeking Divine Law, who may struggle to defy a 6lb rise in the weights for his latest win.
Small each-way stakes are also advised on the chances of KHELFAN in the COMPARE THE ODDS @ BOOKIES.COM HANDICAP (6:00 Wolverhampton) at 33/1.
Her profile is a pretty underwhelming one with nine runs under her belt and just £241 won in prize money but she has shown signs of ability, which is enough to get me interested off a career low mark of 48 today.
Martin Smith’s filly is a bit of a madam at the stalls but when she hits the lids running she threatened to get involved in races of much higher quality than this, especially when finishing a staying-on sixth at Kempton in August last year.
Obviously, this tip is very much a left-field selection as she is very unreliable but in a poor race she’s worth a small play at gigantic odds.
Windsor 7:35 – Laidback Romeo 7/2 (2pts win)
Wolverhampton 6.00 – Khelfan 33/1 (1pt EW)
