Joe Tizzard: “I don’t think Lostintranslation has a problem with Kempton”

Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard gives us the lowdown on the Team Tizzard Boxing Day runners

Lostintranslation looks to make it third-time lucky in the day’s feature race, the King George VI Chase, but Team Tizzard also have runners at Huntingdon and Wincanton in a bumper day of action.

Team Tizzard runners

Kempton 1.20 – Killer Kane

Killer Kane was a bit disappointing at Exeter last time, although missing out five fences because of the low sun didn’t help him.

He also carried his head a bit high, and was never able to get into a rhythm. His run before that, at Carlisle, was much better though, and I think 2 ½ miles around Kempton on this ground will suit him perfectly.

It’s a competitive little race but off his mark he should be thereabouts I hope.

Kempton 3.05 – Lostintranslation

It’s a tremendous King George, as you’d expect and hope for such an important race, with all the right horses lining up.

Lostintranslation came out of his Ascot win really well, and I don’t think he has an issue with Kempton, there are valid reasons for his two defeats in this race, although I accept he’s got to prove me right.

We took him for an away day earlier in the week, to Larkhill point-to-point track, and he went really well under Brendan Powell, he did exactly what we wanted him to.

Ascot showed he was back to somewhere near his best, and if he can travel through this race just in behind the leaders, and show his very best form, that would definitely give him a chance, even in such a strong renewal.

Huntingdon 12.06 – Nelsons Rock

Nelsons Rock was just touched off at Ludlow last time, and as a result he’s gone up six pounds in the handicap.

Harry [Kimber] gets on well with him and despite the weight rise I hope he’ll be competitive here. It certainly looks like the right race for him.

Huntingdon 1.47 – Floy Joy

Harry Kimber is also aboard Floy Joy, who has been a bit disappointing so far this season, although I still think he’s capable of better.

He also went to Larkhill earlier in the week, and went well for us, and hopefully the tongue tie will help him here as well. If so, he’s not without an each-way chance.

Wincanton 12.53 – Rose Of Arcadia

I was disappointed with Rose Of Arcadia at Cheltenham last time, she’d schooled really well prior to that and I thought she’d run a big race.

She’s back at Wincanton, a track she’s run well at before, so maybe we’ll let her bowl along and hopefully she’ll get into a better rhythm.

She’s carrying no weight here, and we know she has ability, but my faith in her has been dented a little by that last run.

Wincanton 2.03 – Butterwick Brook

Butterwick Brook has won well here at Wincanton this season, and finished second, so it was an easy decision to come back here.

He wouldn’t want much more rain, by Getaway he likes good ground, but he gets this trip well and shouldn’t be too far away.

Wincanton 2.38 – Buckhorn George

This is a hot looking race, but having fallen and then pulled up in his two chase starts this season, we just want to get a confidence booster into Buckhorn George, and hopefully back over hurdles we can do that, and then regroup with him.

Wincanton 3.45 – Holnest Pound

This is a first start for Holnest Pound, a horse bred by his owner. He’s had an away day but we’ll learn more about him here, and the horse will learn plenty too.
