Jim Crowley: “Aldaary should be a class above his rivals”

Jim Crowley gives us the lowdown on his four rides at Haydock on Saturday

1.20 Haydock – Mister Comacho

I haven’t ridden the horse before, but he ran a nice race at Redcar last time out which suggests there is something to build upon.

He is now stepping up in trip to 1m4f and hopefully he will appreciate this stiffer test. He has been handed a nice draw in stall one which will help his chances.

1.50 Haydock – Final Song

This mare has lost her way a little bit over the last 12 months. She was out in Dubai earlier this year and then appeared at Newmarket last month.

Saeed bin Suroor has continued to persevere with her, so she must be showing enthusiasm at home. This is a tough race so she will need to find her best form again.

3.35 Haydock – Aldaary

Aldaary won a couple of big handicaps at Ascot at the back of last season. He is the highest-rated horse in the field at 114 and he loves a little cut in the ground.

If he reproduces what he is capable of on his opening start of the season, he should be a class above these in this Listed contest.

5.18 Haydock – Aldhaja

He is by War Front and he used to be a Shadwell horse until he was sold. He won first time out at Southwell, but then was disappointing on his opening appearance on turf at Newmarket.

Hopefully he is not just an all-weather horse. He looks to have ability, he just needs to prove himself on this surface now.
