Friday’s Racing Tip: Mr Mole to muller them at Ascot

ascotThe first day of Ascot’s Christmas meeting is a real feast worthy of position on the calendar on Saturday let alone for a Friday.

The Grade Two Betfred Novices´ Chase (Registered As The Noel Novices´ Chase) is perhaps the highlight on the card, well it is to us anyway, as one of our horses to follow rocks up with a chance to break his Graded race duck.

Now, Mr Mole isn’t a horse for the feint hearted, but boy is he talented and hails from a yard that haven’t kept quiet about the ability he shows at home.

The Paul Nicholls-inmate is running with our money on his head today after showing that chasing just may be his game when the new discipline proved to his liking at Warwick, where he beat Vukovar, who is very well regarded by his trainer Harry Fry.

Last seen finishing second in the Swinton Hurdle in May, he´s is admittedly real character who doesn’t find too much off the bridle but a very talented one at that.

But when he gets things right, he has the potential to be anything he wants to be.

Nicholls has admitted he’s grown up a lot over the summer and at Warwick everything fell right for him and it will be fascinating to see how highly he climbs up the chasing ladder this term.

In our opinion, the two mile novice division is a rather open one with Hinterland topping that tree at the moment but he is really nothing to get excited about.

Mr Mole has more natural talent than his stablemate and under a canny ride from AP McCoy, he should go close today.

He will be produced late in the day and will travel better than anything else, let’s just hope he grown up as much as Nicholls thinks when push comes to shove.

This is a hot race though with all four of the five runners certainly capable of progressing into smart novices.

Raya Star is probably Mr Mole’s biggest rival after his win at Uttoxeter earlier in the year and only being beaten in the final 100 yards by Dodging Bullets at Cheltenham.

But his form does have holes in as does the trip for both Up To Something and Fox Appeal, who look suited a bit further than this 2m3f trip.

Get on the Mole to dig us to a winner.
