Friday’s Racing Tip: Flute Bowl to hit right notes at Wetherby

Lewis Jones rocketed this column into a huge profit yesterday by tipping up an 11/2 winner at Southwell with a recommended stake of 4pts each-way. He’s been in top form since the end of Cheltenham and is looking to continue his profitable run today at Wetherby….

Punting on the Fibresand at Southwell is quickly becoming one of my favourite pastimes. Yesterday was the second time in the space of a month that my big staking faith in an each way selection has yielded maximum results to smash this column into big profits.

Regular readers of this column will remember me recommending five point each-way stakes on All Right Now at the start of March, which won at 8/1 and it a similar result yesterday as Alpha Tauri went the same way this time at 11/2 with four point each way stakes riding on his chances.

Sorry to blow my own trumpet but everything I said would happen, happened. The drop back in trip suited him down to the ground and he duly bolted out of the gates and never saw another rival as he was handicapped to win if relishing the five furlongs.

Friday’s Tip

14:20: FLUTE BOWL 5/2 (2PTS) – Bet365

Unfortunately for our bank balances, there is no action at Southwell today but I’m hoping to keep the run going at Wetherby as we switch our attention back to the National Hunt game.

Those having a punt at the track today on Flutter Friday may want to note that severe rain is due to hit that part of the country before racing and the ground is due to soften. The going has been described as good but I wouldn’t be surprised if some soft was added to the description.

A horse that should appreciate ease in the ground should be Flute Bowl in the Wear A Hat Day Supporting braintumourresearch.org Conditional Jockeys´ Novices´ Hurdle.

Representing the confident team of Gary and Jamie Moore, who combined to send Sire De Grugy to Champion Chase glory, the mare looks a four-year-old to follow judging by the way she routed a field at Taunton earlier in the month.

She was a bit novicey on her hurdling debut and needed to have her mind made up at a couple of flights, but she showed has an engine and after travelling well she quickened away from the field to win by seven lengths.

She may not have beaten much but the manner of the victory was encouraging and the form should be good enough to make her go close today. Get on with two points stake.
