Friday’s Racing Tip: Have a dabble on this 14/1 double

Lewis Jones has his eye firmly fixed on two runners today and is advising a cheeky double on both horses, which will pay 14/1 if delivering the goods.

With Cheltenham on the horizon, getting the column back into would be ideal. However, if you take away the ante post selections for Cheltenham (which are still to run) the column is just about sneaking into profit. Let’s hope we can smash through it today…

King Of The Wolds is a horse that will certainly become far higher rated than 129 this time next year and today at Doncaster looks the perfect time to catch him with the ground drying up.

Currently trading at 2/1 for the Betdaq Value You Can Bet On Handicap Chase at 4:35 it would be foolish not to rate his chances.

Malcom Jefferson’s charge is a sublime jumper when putting everything together and that on its own should be enough to put him in prime position for a big run today. His progression has faltered slightly lately after two fine wins at Sedgefield and Fakenham but he remains a horse with great potential.

His last run, where running with no zest despite going off favourite, was very unlike him and he can be forgiven that, especially as he has been dropped a whopping 3lbs in the weights. He’ll do for us in a pretty ordinary race.

A two point single is advised on his chances as he rates as the day’s best bet but a small one point win double is also recommended on doubling him up with the 4/1 chance Whispering Harry in the RR Elite Novices´ Handicap Hurdle (In Aid of West Berkshire Mencap) at Newbury (4:00).

His trainer Henry Oliver has fired in four winners in the last two months and Whispering Harry has led the charge of his stable, going up 20lbs in the weights during his last four starts.

But this shouldn’t be seen as a negative today as the heavy ground conditions are likely to suit Oliver’s runner more than others and at 4/1 he should be competitive off bottom weight.

Chuck him in a small double with King Of The Wolds for a potential 14/1 payout.
