Daily Racing Multiple: Two at Newcastle appeal for 35/1 Tuesday double

We could know the winner with in-form chaser

Back Just Don’t Know @ 9/2 in the 13:30 at Newcastle

Trainer: Paul Robson
Jockey: Craig Nichol
Age: 9
Weight: 11st 7lbs
OR: 105

Red Showgirl ran well for second at 9/1 yesterday, and went to a BSP of 18.16 before the race. However, Ladykiller was beaten out of sight and it’s time to shelve that idea thinking he was well-handicapped. He had his trip and a lenient mark down in grade, so he is a long way from his Group 3 win in Germany. Plus, David Pipe is a trainer I just struggle to find winners with.

Laura Morgan however has had no such problem, and her horses have returned to form of late, although the markets are now seemingly on full alert with trebles and doubles landed. Indeed, it was last week Morgan had two out of three at Musselburgh with the middle leg finishing second to miss out on the three-timer. However, they were all odds-on, and Seemingly So is once again short enough in the betting at 13/8.

Pauline Robson’s Just To Know is in equally good form and isn’t ground dependant with victories on good to soft and heavy, and his price at 9/2 can hopefully get us off to a good start.

The 9yo won at the turn of the year at Leicester over 2m4f showing a good attitude, and he backed it up with a much harder success over 3m in a bit of a slog at Ayr, but he’s bred to stay as one of his relations I Don’t Know was a marathon 3m6f winner. His jumping was excellent throughout, and his style of racing is fairly straightforward.

Uncomplicated and unexposed at today’s trip, he could be up to defying at rise of 5lb.

Chocca looks the part on paper for Don

Back Chocca Mocha @ 11/2 in the 16:50 at Newcastle

Trainer: Donald McCain
Jockey: Peter Kavanagh
Age: 5
Weight: 11st 0lbs

I outlined on Saturday that I don’t mind backing bumper horses, and the closing race at Newcastle has a good mix with a penalised runner and a Nicky Richards’ horse who has had a couple of runs but has finished second and third.

Don McCain’s NHF horses in the last 12 months as newcomers are 7-19, and his stats at Newcastle with all of his runners are impressive ticking along at a 41% strike-rate.

His debutante Chocca Mocha runs in the silks of James and Jean Potter and while a cheap buy, looks to have a good pedigree for the game. Her dam Chocca Wocca won easily on her debut at Ludlow, and she is also related to As I see It, a 130-performer out of Nicky Henderson’s Chomba Womba.

With four bumper winners in the pedigree, the yard’s runners are usually ready off the shelf, and Peter Kavanagh claims 7lb for a bang in-form yard.
