Daily Racing Multiple: Expect thunder in Scotland with Lucinda to strike

Fergie time again as Viadelamore steps up in class

Back Viadelamore @ 7/4 in the 14:05 at Salisbury

Trainer: James Ferguson
Jockey: Hector Crouch
Age: 3
Weight: 9st 3lbs
OR: 84

Minzaal was disappointing at York yesterday, and there were simply no excuses with Light Of Dreams’ second behind Emily Upjohn. Hearing the winner of the Musidora from Wednesday is in the same class at this stage of her career as Enable is not what you want to hear when you backed the second! On with Thursday.

A decent 0-90 awaits at Salisbury at 14:05 and I am sticking with Viadelamore again, who was a last time out winner for the column when scoring at Redcar, and he is up to defying a 5lb rise with another small field in opposition.

That was his handicap debut in the north, and he couldn’t have been more impressive. Switched off just off behind the pace, his jockey peeled off the rail with 3f to go and floated past the leading two quite quickly. That move was a 11.30 split to add to a solid time and he accelerated sharply to win with a bit in hand. That was his quickest sectional, and indeed fastest in the race with a good finishing speed too.

The fourth Zimmerman has recently won a handicap at Haydock to boost the form, but Viadelamore looked as though he had improved a heap from his trip of starts a 2yo.

One of those was behind a very smart Godolphin horse Symbol Of Light, and he looked ahead of his mark last time for Redcar, which was bang in the middle of a golden run for James Ferguson, who at the time was operating at around 45%. The numbers have dipped a bit of late with 4-15 recently at 26%, but the selection can handle the rise in class here.

He improved for the new trip too at Redcar, and a stiff 1m2f at Salisbury on decent ground are both in his favour.

Aurora can make amends after crashing fall last time

Back Aurora Thunder @ 7/2 in the 15:55 at Perth

Trainer: Lucinda Russell
Jockey: Alan Doyle
Age: 8
Weight: 11st 9lbs
OR: 120

We’re mixing it up a bit today with the second selection over jumps in Perth, and Lucinda Russell’s Aurora Thunder goes in at 7/2 despite falling last time out.

Russell had a bit of great fortune with a winner at the track for last night’s meeting, although fortune and mostly skill with the heroics of Stephen Mulqueen in the saddle no Wednesday. He somehow stayed on despite being flung down the Spark Of Madness’ neck, but he clung on and went to score. Russell also enjoyed a treble at the recent Kelso fixture.

Aurora Thunder was in a decent mares’ race at Ayr last time and looked a big player before taking a crashing fall at the last when moving into contention. She had been matched at 2.1211/10 in-running to signify how close she was to a win.

She is adaptable with going, with success on good to soft and soft, but she also handles a quicker surface.

Her last win was on New Year’s Day at Musselburgh from 117, and she has improved since despite winning. Expect her to be held up and considering she has been competing mostly in Class 2 events, this could be a bit weaker than the 0-130 level for the race.
