Daily Horse Racing Tip: Merlin’s Wish a magical bet at Hexham

hexhamTipster Lewis Jones nailed an 11/4 winner yesterday at Lingfield as he noted that Sam Twiston-Davies was heading there for just one ride. He’s hoping to keep his 100% strike-rate up with this 6/4 shot in Hexham’s 2:10…..

Young Hurricane justified our faith yesterday at a decent early morning price of 11/4 at Lingfield with Sam Twiston-Davies steering home the hot-pot in authoritative style and here’s hoping we can take the bookies for a few more quid today.

Our attention is firmly fixated on the chances of MERLIN’S WISH in the Solar Signs Handicap Chase (2:10) at Hexham, who should absolutely relish the step up to four miles on soft going after being one of the eye catchers of the season so far when finishing a strong staying-on second in a novice chase at Chepstow on bottomless ground.

He can be backed at 6/4 with Bet365 (PICK UP A £200 FREE BET)

Trainer Martin Keighley clearly has faith in this horse where others didn’t.
Despite being an eight-year-old, he only made his debut earlier this season having been transferred between ownership and trainers more times than Marcus Bent.

However, since settling in with the talented Keighley, the gutsy staying chaser has progressed with every start and has the look of a horse that could make into a nice type over the marathon distances.

It was hard not be taken with the way his finished his race last time out at Chepstow, where he finished an unlucky second behind Stormyisland Ahead.

Jumping well and travelling the best with four to jump, he absolutely hammered the fourth-last and did well to stand up let alone stay in touch with the leaders. Having lost lots of momentum, the way he regained his stride very quickly and ran true all the way to the line was very impressive. He was only beat by less than two lengths, which in the circumstances was a heck of an achievement.

There has been plenty of money around for him overnight with Bet365, which has, disappointingly, deflated the price considerably although the strong market forces suggest we’re not alone in thinking that the selection is the day’s good thing.

His biggest test will come from the similarly unexposed hooves of Beau Dandy, who is a fair 4/1 chance, but may lack the scope and staying power of the selection, who looks well capable of improving on his current mark of 104.

Using a points to profit system just to record our winning margins we are advising a 3pt win on this selection.

Good luck if following, comrades.
